Workshops

Each year Commotion School of Performing Arts runs several dance workshops open to all students from within Commotion as well as any dancers from other dance schools. We have a workshop every single school holidays and a special 5 day workshop every Christmas holidays (usually held during the last week of the school break).

We have had dozens of amazing guest teachers at our workshops over the last few years including Juliette Verne (choreographer and consultant for Australia's "So You Think You Can Dance"), BJ Rourke, Taran Jenkins, Clint Salter, Melanie Hitchcock, BJ Concepcion, Megan Rawle, Kelly Duroy, Chris Lewis, Shane, Warren Roma, Melanie Harriman, Vanessa Guetti, Joanne McManus, Joanne Simms, Rebecca Woods, Lawrence Stark, Michelle Loomes, Rhiannon Villareal (SYTYCD Top 8), Hilton Dennis (SYTYCD Top 18) and more.

Each day of the workshop there will be at least two guest teachers. That’s at least 11 teachers throughout the entire workshop. Some of your favourites will be back. Some you will recognize from SYTYCD! Some you will have never seen before, but they will BLOW YOUR MIND!

All styles will be experienced… JAZZ, TAP, BALLET, LYRICAL, HIP HOP, FUNK, CONTEMPORARY, ACROBATICS, MUSICAL THEATRE & more… plus daily FITNESS & STRETCH, TECHNIQUE TRAINING and CORNER WORK!

On the Thursday night, there will be an optional MOVIE NIGHT @ the studio, complete with popcorn, choc-tops and pizza. Bring your pillow and a blanket, Juniors stay until 8:30pm and Seniors stay until 10:30pm. We’ll be watching dance movies and highlights from this year’s concert.

On the Friday at the end of the workshop there will be a huge performance for the parents showcasing the dances that the students learn. This performance will be AMAZING. Invite your friends and family.

The Commotion Summer Workshop is a FUN way to spend a week of your holidays, but it is so much more that that. This AWESOME experience will CHANGE you as a dancer. The INSPIRATION and CHALLENGE that the GUEST TEACHERS will provide will benefit you in so many ways. This is your chance to STEP UP your dancing technique and ability. Those that do this workshop will IMPROVE.

The COMMOTION SUMMER WORKSHOP is for all dancers aged 6 to 18. The students will be split into Junior and Senior age groups. This is NOT just for students of Commotion School of Performing Arts. ALL DANCERS are invited to take advantage of this OPPORTUNITY. Bring your friends, no matter where they dance. It’s all about providing a GREAT and MEMORABLE EXPERIENCE for everyone.

The cost is sooooo cheap when you consider the value. Our workshops are always the cheapest around. You will not find another workshop or summer school of this quality for anywhere near our price. The full workshop costs $180 for 5 whole days, a total of 40 hours. (That’s only $4.50 per hour – You can’t even hire a babysitter for that rate).

Remember, those Commotion students who are on the $50 unlimited package will receive 20% off their Summer Workshop fee. That takes the total down to $144!!!
